Title Ten Characteristics of a Healthy Community: How the Arts Can Be Integrated
Abstract In July 2001, Americans for the Arts and the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies convened 1,500 national, state, and local arts leaders in New York City. Representing $2 billion in public and private sector arts support, these participants studied 10 characteristics of livable communities in which the arts play a critical role. A list of strategies was developed for each characteristic to guide arts leaders in using the arts to increase community livability. This Monograph documents the proceedings and suggests information resources to assist with implementation.
