Catherine Vacovsky
Press and Media Relations Manager
As the press and media relations manager, Catherine Vacovsky is responsible for ensuring press and media awareness of all Americans for the Arts activities, events, products, and other promotions. Prior to joining Americans for the Arts, Catherine served for three years as a public relations associate at Hewitt Associates and one year as the public relations manager at Chicago Shakespeare Theater. In addition, she has worked in various marketing, communications, and public relations capacities at the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, and National Endowment for the Arts. Catherine has also volunteered for several arts organizations, including the Art Institute of Chicago and the New Moon Orchestra in Pittsburgh.
Catherine holds a master's in arts management from Carnegie Mellon University and a B.A. in journalism and mass communication with a concentration in public relations and a minor in dramatic arts from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Catherine is also a dancer, having studied jazz, modern, tap and, most prominently, ballet for nearly 20 years. During her time at the University of North Carolina, she performed in and provided choreography for several dance and musical theater productions. She has also served as a dance instructor at summer camps in her hometown, Fayetteville, NC.
