Tim Mikulski
Communications and Content Manager

Tim MikulskiTim is the communications and content manager at Americans for the Arts. He ensures that the organization is effectively communicating its goals and accomplishments by producing and distributing communications to a broad spectrum of stakeholders. Among his duties, Tim is responsible for shaping and generating content for the organization’s websites (including as editor of ARTSblog), print and electronic publications, and social media channels.

Prior to his current role, Tim served as the arts education program manager at Americans for the Arts. He provided professional development and advocacy services to local arts agency members and constituents to help affect change in arts education programs and policies at the local and statewide levels. Tim has also served as the state and local government affairs coordinator at Americans for the Arts—tracking legislation and ballot initiatives; strengthening statewide arts advocacy efforts; and promoting state and local public policies that advance the arts and arts education in America.

Just before joining Americans for the Arts in 2007, Tim served as policy director for New Jersey Assemblywoman Nilsa Cruz-Perez, primarily focusing on consumer affairs, social services, housing, and veterans’ affairs policy. From 2002–06, Tim served in several roles within the New Jersey General Assembly Majority Office, beginning as constituent relations associate and later promoted to acting director of the department. He also served as democratic committee aide to the Assembly Women, Family, & Children Services Committee, assisting in writing and the passage of legislation, including the state’s first domestic partnership law and child welfare reform.  

A Southern New Jersey native, Tim graduated from The College of New Jersey in Ewing with a B.A. in political science and minor in journalism.
