Come Early and Stay Late in Houston!

Tourists and locals alike are discovering what those in international cultural circles have known for years: to experience the finest arts and culture in the world, you need look no further than Houston.

Twenty-first century Houston is a thriving art nexus, the home of world-class museums, acclaimed art galleries and a huge community of talented artists. At the heart of it all: the Houston Museum District, whose 17 museums and 50-acre zoological park—all within walking distance of one another and accessible by METRORail—form one of the largest cultural districts in the country, with more than half a million square feet of exhibition space. It’s also one of the most vital in the nation, drawing 6,000,000 visitors annually.

Houston’s downtown Theater District spans 17 blocks and has 12,948 seats in a concentrated downtown area. Beyond the skyscrapers of downtown, a diverse array of smaller companies call Houston home, offering a unique blend of cutting-edge performing arts and well-known classics in a variety of intimate settings. Plus, Houston is one of only a few U.S. cities with permanent professional resident companies in opera, ballet, music, and theater.

Visit the Greater Houston Convention and Visitor’s Bureau and the Houston Arts Alliance’s websites for up-to-date cultural events.
