Eulynn Shiu
Research and Evaluation Manager
Americans for the Arts

Eulynn delivers valuable information and research services to individuals who need compelling evidence for their efforts to cultivate, sustain, and support the arts. Eulynn manages Americans for the Arts’ Creative Industries research, a groundbreaking initiative to quantify arts-related businesses in the nation, for which she developed an online delivery system making 7,300 state legislative district reports to available America’s arts advocates around-the-clock, free of charge.

Eulynn is also an experienced survey researcher, having designed more than 50 web-based surveys for Americans for the Arts and other arts-service organizations. She co-authored Survey of Member Schools: Academic Year 2005–2006, a bi-annual report published by The National Guild of Community Schools.  Her surveys have also been used to gather data for Where Can We Work?, a report on workspace availability for New York City musicians released by NYC Performing Arts Spaces, and her data analysis appears in Los Angeles County Arts Commission’s Arts for All: 2005 Arts Education Performance Indicators report.

As lead evaluator on the research team, she conducts annual assessments of the organization’s major programs including the Annual Convention, National Arts Advocacy Day Conference, and National Arts Marketing Project Conference. A member of the Advisory Committee for ArtsMarketing.org and a contributing writer, she educates small arts organizations on conducting patron research.

Eulynn has also held positions at the Georgetown Public Policy Institute and the Pew Internet and American Life Project, where her report on instant messaging remains Pew's only major report on the topic. A classically trained pianist, Eulynn earned a B.A. from Northwestern University and a master’s degree in public policy from Georgetown University.
