Lisa Citron
Founder and Executive Director
(Out)Laws & Justice

Lisa Citron is the Executive Director and creative force behind (Out)Law & Order, a fully integrated eighth grade arts education  interdisciplinary curriculum that integrates history and social studies, language arts, and drama into teaming classroom teachers and teaching artists. With the motto, “From the classroom to the stage, the ‘Code of the West’ meets the ‘Code of the Street,’” this standards-based curriculum compels students to critically reflect on America’s 19th-century westward expansion; to discover the legacies of the Wild West on contemporary culture, public policies, and their own lives; and then to dramatize their observations in culminating plays written and performed by the students themselves. Citron is a former primary and secondary school teacher and producer of San Francisco’s City of Poets.
