Recharge a Day Early.

Come a day early on Wednesday, June 17, to participate in one of six workshops where you will have more time to focus on specific topics that matter to you. Most workshops take place at the Sheraton Seattle. Full-Day Workshops: $150 members, $175 nonmembers. Half-Day Workshops: $125 members, $150 nonmembers.

Diverse Cultures: Leading Change in the 21st Century
Wednesday, June 17, 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

This workshop will focus on tools, services, and partnerships that support the sustainability of arts organizations serving communities of color in the United States. Morning topics will include building relationships for marketing, succession strategies, developing cultural spaces, and mission-driven work. In the afternoon we'll focus on equal participation in policy-making, equitable funding for all cultural institutions, and equity in multicultural leadership.

A complimentary reception for Diverse Cultures Workshop Attendees will be held from 5:30 p.m - 7:30 p.m.at Bambuza Bistro, 820 Pike Street, Seattle, WA  98101, 206.219.5555.

The workshop will be held at ACT Theatre and hosted by The Hansberry Project, an African American Theatre Lab.

Co-presenters of the workshop and reception following include Seattle's Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs (OACA), Washington State Arts Commission (WSAC), California Arts Council (CAC), 4Culture, Nebraska Arts Council, The Association of American Cultures (TAAC), Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, and the Illinois Arts Council.

Engage! Best Practices in Arts and Civic Engagement
Wednesday, June 17, 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

In this daylong workshop from Animating Democracy, learn arts-based civic engagement principles and practices via project examples, video, and lively exchange. Find out how to maximize engagement opportunities through program design and community partnerships, as well as how to facilitate meaningful civic dialogue. There will also be an opportunity to share projects in progress and vet new ideas with colleagues.

Creative Economy: By Design
Wednesday, June 17, 1:30 p.m.-5:00 p.m.

Since 1999, the Massachusetts legislature has invested more than $7 million in the creative economy. Massachusetts Cultural Council funds helped create jobs and revenue, revitalize downtowns, and attract tourists. More than 650 organizations, in some of the most economically challenged places in the Commonwealth, partnered in these efforts. In this workshop you'll learn how to develop, grow, and sustain a creative economy agenda regardless of your organization's size, circumstance, and location.

Leveraging Private Sector Support

Experts in strategic philanthropy and sponsorship will share their insights about the future of private-sector support for the arts. Hear the latest statistics and trends and join in an open discussion about what motivates businesses, foundations, and individuals to give to the arts and other nonprofits. Participants will leave with practical strategies and tactics for ensuring private-sector funding.

Public Art Program Management
Wednesday, June 17, 1:30 p.m.-5:00 p.m.

Through presentations and small group discussions participants will learn more about how to create work plans, facilitate boards, promote advocacy, develop guidelines and policies, establish good artist/administrator relationships, and manage projects. In addition, conservation and maintenance will be presented as a critical component in sustaining the artwork collection and determining long-term program success. This workshop session is for administrators managing new and existing public art programs. Resource handouts will be available.

You Bet Your Assessment!
Wednesday, June 17, 1:30 p.m.-5:00 p.m.

As teaching artists and arts partners, we assess our work and the work of our students every day. How can we use our assessment know-how to make the case for our programs and become better teachers? Join SCASS, a national consortium on assessment in the arts, to hone your assessment skills and translate arts assessments into a language that schools and other partners understand.
