why arts matter video contest
In conjunction with the 50th Anniversary, Americans for the Arts asks why the arts matter to you with the announcement of the Why Arts Matter Video Contest. Celebrate the arts in America by creating a video that tells "Why Arts Matter" to you.
Research tells us that collectively, the arts are essential to a child’s development, they’re an important part of our economy, and they improve the health and vitality of people and communities around the world. But we want to hear from you. Why are the arts are so important in your life?
The winning video will be shown on the MTV 44 1/2 screen in Times Square, letting you share your story with thousands of people. You’ll even be able to capture the big moment and all those to come with your new Flip UltraHD Camcorder.
Maybe you love the inspiration and stress relief you get from painting in your spare time. Maybe you’re a teacher who has seen your students come alive throughout the year by taking an art class or learning to play a musical instrument. Or maybe you’re a singer in a chorus who loves to express yourself through music. Perhaps you're a professional artist who relies on your skill and creativity as your livelihood. We’ve been asking people across the country about the arts in their lives and they’ve shared their inspirations, their stories, and their favorite art forms. Now we want to hear from you!
