Carole King Headlines Congressional Arts Caucus Event

World-renowned singer/songwriter Carole King performed at an April 29, 2004, Capitol Hill reception hosted by the Congressional Arts Caucus and Americans for the Arts. The event also featured remarks by the Co-chairs of the Congressional Arts Caucus, Representatives Louise Slaughter (D-NY) and Chris Shays (R-CT), as well as Americans for the Arts' President and CEO Robert Lynch and National Endowment for the Arts Chairman Dana Gioia. The event helped recruit new members to the caucus while providing a lively forum to discuss current legislative issues of interest to the arts community.
