Arts Education
Americans for the Arts works to effect systemic change to ensure every child in the nation has access to arts education. This effort happens locally through our convenings and parental resource tools, and nationally through our work on such issues as the reauthorization of No Child Left Behind. In between, we seek to strengthen and inform local advocates. Our website provides users with access to a comprehensive set of resources needed to make the case for arts education—both in school and out—including analysis of key legislation and policy; research; and tool kits about how to engage young people. The online publication Arts Education Information Quarterly offers practical information to educators, teaching artists, and advocates about how to influence public education decision makers. Grant funds make this work possible and enable Americans for the Arts to moderate a growing conversation about arts education’s intrinsic value and to work toward ensuring every student has access to rich, meaningful arts education experiences.
