Research & Policy
Our Arts & Economic Prosperity study, the largest of its kind to date, continues to be the source of the most frequently cited statistics used to demonstrate the impact of the nonprofit arts industry on local, state, and national economy. Our research agenda also embraces a number of key strategies, including creative industries, workforce development, arts education, and philanthropy. The upcoming National Arts Index will summarize annual trend data about the arts and culture industry in the United States. To date, no organization—arts supporting or arts presenting—has been able to develop a methodology that, when repeated year after year, will provide reliable information about the arts in America. Foundations can bolster the participation of even more communities in the next Arts & Economic Prosperity study, or a number of future research studies, by helping to offset the costs of data collection.
