Public Art
Public art expresses community identity, inspires civic pride, and provides public access to works of art. Americans for the Arts Public Art Network (PAN) is the only program in the nation that provides services, information, and resources to the diverse field of public art. PAN serves practitioners who represent more than 300 public art programs, artists, public art professionals, design professionals, arts organizations, community agencies and organizations, allied professionals, and urban planners. PAN’s Year in Review, an annual juried presentation of the nation’s most interesting and innovative public art, highlights contemporary public artists and showcases their work to a national audience. Long-term projects specific to PAN include a visionary national database of public art projects. The first system of its kind, the database will be a unique resource for the field and repository of significant historical information about public art in America.
