A gift to Americans for the Arts through a bequest in your will or estate plan will help ensure that the arts and arts education will continue to thrive in our nation for generations to come. If you would like to notify Americans for the Arts of your bequest intentions, please fill out our Bequest Notification Form [PDF].

You have a few options when making a bequest. Below is language we suggest using in your estate planning documents:

Percentage Bequest:

“I give, devise and bequeath to Americans for the Arts (Tax Identification #52-1996467), a non profit organization with principal offices located in Washington, DC, __% of the rest and residue of my estate, to be used for its general uses and purposes.”

Residuary Request:

“I give, devise and bequeath to Americans for the Arts (Tax Identification #52-1996467), a non profit organization with principal offices located in Washington, DC, the rest and residue of my estate, to be used for its general uses and purposes.”

Contingent Bequest:

"In the event that (name or names; i.e., spouse, children, sibling, heirs) shall not survive me, or shall die during the administration of my estate, within ____ days from the date of my death, or as a result of a common disaster, then I give, devise and bequeath those beneficiaries’ shares of my estate to Americans for the Arts (Tax Identification #52-1996467), a non profit organization with principal offices located in Washington, DC, the rest and residue of my estate, to be used for its general uses and purposes.”

Bequest of specific sum:

“I give, devise and bequeath to Americans for the Arts (Tax Identification #52-1996467), a non profit organization with principal offices located in Washington, DC, $ _________, to be used for its general uses and purposes.”

Bequest of specific asset:

“I give, devise and bequeath to Americans for the Arts (Tax Identification #52-1996467), a non profit organization with principal offices located in Washington, DC, list asset(s) and/or description(s) here, to be used for its general uses and purposes.”
