06/10/2008
Moderator: Virginia Vann, Director of Marketing and Development, Allicance Theatre and former Brande Manager, Cingular Wireless
Presentation by Patricia Martin
Panelists:
• James Anderson, Senior VP of Public Relations, Turner Broadcasting
• Lena Carstens, Managing Director, Dad's Garage Theatre Company
• Tad Hutcheson, VP of Marketing and Sales, AirTran Airways
The purpose of this forum was to acknowledge the ever-present Renaissance Generation, as covered in Patricia Martin's book RenGen: Renaissance Generation: The Rise of the Cultural Consumer and What it Means for your Business.
Her presentation led to a discussion focused on the future relationship between arts organizations and businesses in Atlanta. Greater collaborations between arts and business were the main focus of the panel discussion and Q&A. A steering committee was formed and began putting focus on how the RenGen theory and ideas could be implemented with arts and business collaboration.
The steering committee began discussing the idea of a RenGen competition, with the purpose of developing an innovative marketing plan using the lessons from Patricia Martin’s presentation. Organizations and individuals in Atlanta were eligible for the competition. The applicants were required to include how the RenGen theory was applicable to their marketing plan. They were to focus on major RenGen ideas such as being highly collaborative in nature and focusing on key elements that appeal to the RenGen market.
Out of the applicants, four proposals will be chosen to present their ideas to the audience of the second forum. The panelists of the first forum will act as judges and select the winner of the competition.
