Leadership: New Frameworks for the Changing Face of America
08/04/2008
The first forum resulted in a RenGen competition. Atlanta-based organizations and individuals were asked to submit proposals for a marketing plan that implemented theories from Patricia Martin’s presentation of the RenGen at the first forum. Four proposals were chosen to be presented at the second forum. These organizations were Southern Arts Federation, Synchronicity Performance Group, Theatre in the Square, and Theatrical Outfit.
Each organization was given six minutes to present their marketing plan. The panelists from the first forum acted as judges and the audience was also given a chance to vote on a winner. Synchronicity Performance Group was unanimously chosen as the competition winner. They were awarded a $500 grant from the Metropolitan Atlanta Arts Fund for implementation of the idea, a Georgia State University Marketing Masters intern to advise implementation of the proposal, and two roundtrip tickets donated by AirTran Airways.
Following the competition the audience participated in a discussion. Members of the audience expressed their appreciation of the forum as it shed light on the need for new marketing and business plans. For example, a local theater marketing executive shared that it was time for people to embrace new communication and ideas favored by the RenGen. The audience expressed their desire for more follow up on the topic. The steering committee is discussing the possibility of continuing this project beyond the forum.
