Katherine Wagner
As CEO, Katherine Wagner provides leadership for Business Council for the Arts, a nonprofit agency that advocates for business support of the arts and cultural sector in North Texas.
Previous to this position, Ms. Wagner served for over 10 years as Executive Director of Dallas Visual Art Center (now “the Contemporary”), significantly increasing membership, programming and outreach as well as and working with The Meadows Foundation, Inc. on the design and building of a new state-of-the-art facility which was completed in 2000.
Ms. Wagner has experience in the business as well as the cultural and academic sectors, working for Trammell Crow Company at their Dallas headquarters, as they helped to initiate corporate activity in the Dallas Arts District and at the Dallas Museum of Art as they moved from Fair Park to the Dallas Arts District. Ms. Wagner has also lectured in the areas of art history, art appreciation, careers in the visual arts.
Ms. Wagner began her career at Indiana University, Bloomington, as Director of the community gallery on campus immediately after receiving her MFA in Printmaking (and a Ford Foundation Grant-in-Aid of Research).
Ms. Wagner is widely involved in the arts community and has served on panels, including those of the General Services Administration, the Texas Commission on the Arts and the City of Dallas, Office of Cultural Affairs. Currently she serves on the Public Art Committee for the City of Dallas, the Booker T. Washington Advisory Board, and the North Texas Commission.
