National Arts Marketing Project

NAMP logoNational Arts Marketing Project (NAMP) is designed to help arts organizations better understand the marketplace in which they operate and recognize the benefits of an aggressive, outward-looking audience development effort. NAMP helps arts organizations understand this viewpoint by instituting long-term systemic change and helping them acquire and implement sophisticated marketing skills. Over 10,000 nonprofit arts organizations nationwide have strengthened their marketing skills through NAMP.

Participating Cities: Boston, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York City, Phoenix, San Francisco, Tampa/St. Petersburg/Clearwater, and the Washington, DC area.

The Project consists of four aspects:

  • Arts Marketing Workshop Series workshops are available at all ten NAMP sites. These workshops are targeted to small and midsized arts groups and are intended to be valuable in and of themselves, as well as an entry point for further participation in NAMP. Attendees are offered the opportunity to earn a “Certificate of Completion in Basic Arts Marketing,” over the course of three years by attending six workshops including three on the core topics.
  • ArtsMarketing.org is a comprehensive web portal that organizes practical marketing information in a format that is easily accessible to novice, intermediate, and expert marketers alike. ArtsMarketing.org is also a resource for teachers and students in arts administration/arts management programs, and for all members of the arts community across disciplines. Through ArtsMarketing.org, artistic peers and marketing professionals address daily marketing needs and longer-term marketing issues.
  • The National Arts Marketing Project Conference happens annually as a convening of arts marketers from across North America and the globe. They gather to discuss the latest issues in earned income and audience development. The conference begins with a preconference day, followed by two and a half days of sessions, plenary sessions, peer roundtable discussions, a keynote address, and networking opportunities.
  • The Nonprofit Marketing Training program offers high-quality, custom workshops anywhere you need them to make the most of marketing dollars. The reputation of NAMP's workshops for delivering practical and inspiring information as well as the skills and strategies for developing new arts audiences has grown significantly. Private foundations, corporate funders, service organizations, and government agencies can stretch their granting dollars and impact multiple arts groups by scheduling a NAMP workshop locally.
