Learning and participation in music, dance, theater, and the visual arts are vital to the development of our children and our communities. Through advocacy, research, partnerships, and professional development, Americans for the Arts strives to provide and secure more resources and support for arts education. Americans for the Arts relies on the Arts Education Council to guide its work in this area.
Arts Education Funding Opportunities from the Federal Government
Recently, nonprofit and governmental arts groups as well as individual artists have faced funding gaps and budget shortfalls during the nation’s economic downturn. In addition to the $50 million in National Endowment for the Arts recovery funds, Americans for the Arts has identified additional funding resources in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (the recent stimulus bill) that could be available for the arts, specifically arts education.
Arts Education in Public Schools
Americans for the Arts hosts three efforts to effect positive change for arts education. The first is our Arts Education and No Child Left Behind resource; the second is a storehouse of tools to grow arts education in schools; the third is our national public awareness campaign.

Americans for the Arts hosts a live database of current arts education research, program profiles, news, and other information.
Arts Education Publications and Services
Americans for the Arts provides services, publications, partnerships, and conferences to arts education professionals who work to improve access to and quality in arts education. The Arts Education Council provides guidance on those services.
