Deb Vaughn oversees the Oregon Arts Commission’s Arts Education programs, including the Arts Learning grant program and Poetry Out Loud. Prior to joining the commission, Deb worked as school services manager for Portland-based Oregon Children's Theatre. A trained singer, actor and writer, Vaughn was a public school artist-in-residence through Phoenix’s 21st Century Learning Grant. Vaughn has worked as a creative drama teacher in both Portland and Phoenix, Arizona, and served as the educational consultant for Sojourn Theatre's Freshman Initiative Project. Vaughn was also a member of the Visioning Committee for the Right Brain Initiative and served on the Executive Team for Opera Theatre Oregon.

Vaughn currently serves as a member of the advisory team for the Kennedy Center’s Any Given Child program in Portland. In 2009, Deb received a Sunburst Award for her exemplary commitment to arts education. Over the past year, Deb has presented on the use of technology for leveraging the arts at the Arts Education Partnership Forum's “Imagine This” Seminar (Portland, OR), GCAIE Fall Teaching Artist Workshop (Hood River, OR) and the NASAA Assembly (Austin, TX). Deb Vaughn holds a MFA in Theatre for Youth from Arizona State University and a BA in theatre from University of Portland. A native Oregonian, Deb is continually exploring new areas of her home state and relishes spending time outdoors.
