Teniqua Broughton
Teniqua Broughton is the program director at Free Arts of Arizona, a nonprofit organization that brings therapeutic creative arts programs to abused and homeless children throughout Maricopa County.
Teniqua has experience in providing both direct services for children with emotional or behavioral disorders and serving in management positions. She provided administrative leadership and staff/resource management for the Cultural Participation department at Arizona State University Gammage and the Community Services department at the City of Tempe.
Teniqua’s commitment to the community is demonstrated in her role in the Journey Home Program. In collaboration with ASU Gammage, Maricopa County Estrella Jail, and a select team of local artists and therapists, Teniqua brings her innovative brand of art and movement therapy to incarcerated women. She is also a mentor for the Rites of Passage Program, a culture and leadership development program for girls, where she also volunteers her management and administrative skills to ensure the program’s success. In addition, she is the project manager for Arts Leading Learning Model (ALLM) at Desert Harbor Elementary School in the Peoria Unified School District.
Teniqua currently serves as the chairperson for the Americans for the Arts Emerging Leaders Council. She also sits on the boards of Arizona Citizen’s for the Arts and the Desert Botanical Gardens. She holds a master’s degree in educational administration and supervision, and a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies in educational psychology, with an emphasis on theater for youth.
