Arts Marketing

Many in the arts marketing field come from related arts administration backgrounds, with an intuitive feel for marketing or from professional marketing programs with a personal interest in the arts. But for the unique challenges of marketing an arts experience instead of a commercial product, there is limited training. As a result, many arts organizations rely on marketing consultants to cultivate in-house marketing capacity. To address the demand for focused professional development in this area, Americans for the Arts established the National Arts Marketing Project (NAMP).

National Arts Marketing Project
The National Arts Marketing Project (NAMP) is an initiative dedicated to helping arts organizations better understand the marketplace in which they operate and recognize the benefits of an aggressive, outward-looking audience development effort. NAMP provides training and resources to help arts organizations acquire and implement sophisticated marketing skills that will help increase earned income through audience development.

ArtsMarketing.org
ArtsMarketing.org is a comprehensive web portal that organizes practical marketing information in a format that is easily accessible to novice, intermediate, and expert marketers alike. Through ArtsMarketing.org, artistic peers and marketing professionals address daily marketing needs and long-term marketing issues.

Events
Local arts agencies can collaborate with NAMP to bring professional development in arts marketing to their communities. NAMP Training sessions come in a variety of formats from one-day workshops to eight-day intensives, flexible enough to create a customized training session to meet your needs. Download a quick overview of workshops and training opportunities.

NAMP also hosts an annual conference for arts marketing professionals, typically in November. Visit www.ArtsMarketing.org/conference for more information.
