2012 American Express Emerging Leaders Award
Since 2006, Americans for the Arts annually awards the American Express Emerging Leaders Award to an exceptional young professional of merit and accomplishment. An Emerging Leader is defined as a local arts leader who has fewer than 10 years experience in the field. The 2012 American Express Emerging Leaders Award is awarded to an individual who demonstrates:
• Visionary leadership expressed through an ability to imagine what the arts community could look like and the steps for getting there
• Effective leadership that leads to impact within the community
• Authentic leadership that shows a strong sense of purpose, as well as true engagement with the community
• Transformational leadership inspired by innovate thinking and a willingness to take risks to achieve results
The Emerging Leaders Network programs and services are targeted toward young professionals who are in the beginning stages of their careers or people who switched into the field, but Americans for the Arts welcomes people from every age range and demographic group. The only requirement is that participants need to have the desire to enhance their leadership capacity and the drive to develop innovative, effective, and responsible management practices.
To submit a nomination, please view the awards section of the Americans for the Arts Annual Convention website. Nominations must be received by 5:00 p.m. EST on Wednesday, March 21, 2012.
The 2012 Emerging Leaders Award is generously sponsored by American Express.
