The 1997 honoree, Dr. Michael Marsicano, is an outstanding example of local leadership. During his tenure as President of the Arts & Science Council of Charlotte/Mecklenburg County, he distinguished himself through both his actions and accomplishments and created an agency that has become a model for cultural organizations across America. Dr. Marsicano now leads the Foundation for the Carolinas and is on the Policy Board of Americans for the Arts.
