Americans for the Arts Presents National Award for Leadership in Fundraising to Milwaukee's Glen F. Hackmann

Austin, TX—June 12, 2005. Americans for the Arts today presented the 2005 Michael Newton Award to Glen F. Hackmann, chairman of the board of directors for the United Performing Arts Fund (UPAF) of Greater Milwaukee, at its annual convention in Austin, TX. The Newton Award recognizes exemplary leadership skills and extraordinary dedication to supporting the arts through a united arts fund, which is a combined or federated appeal for arts funding conducted annually to raise unrestricted money on behalf of three or more arts, culture, and/or science organizations in a community. Mr. Hackmann currently spearheads the UPAF of Greater Milwaukee’s implementation of a new strategic plan designed to advance excellence and sustainability in the performing arts sector.

“Glen Hackmann’s boundless energy and passion for the arts has made him one of our country’s most important arts fundraisers,” said Robert L. Lynch, president and CEO of Americans for the Arts. “Glen’s dynamic advocacy of united arts funds and deep involvement in the performing arts in Milwaukee has ensured that the benefits of culture extend into every corner of the community.”

Mr. Hackmann is a managing director as well as the general counsel and secretary for Robert W. Baird & Co.
